This amazing bach that embraces the MacKenzie country views started life as a Goldpine tractor shed. The innovative client (a builder) had purchased the shed as a kit and asked us to "add some bits to transform it into a bach". The shed form sits unapologetically on the rural landscape. The clear space allowed for an open free flowing living space designed to open up in summer and hunker down in winter.
With walls of glass on three sides the panoramic views to the snow capped southern alps fill the spacious, light open living space which flows onto a cleverly designed out door living alcove. Clad in Western Red Cedar and tray roofing the house features a post and beam structure, creating a warm light environment for family holidays.
